Firefighters extinguish paper-filled warehouse blaze in Point Douglas

Firefighters were called to a warehouse on Point Douglas Avenue Tuesday evening.

Warehouse filled with paper products, fire quickly extinguished; investigation ongoing

Winnipeg firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze at a in Point Douglas warehouse on Tuesday evening.

The fire was in a storage building filled with paper products, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said. The smoke made it difficult to find the base of the fire but when it was located the fire was quickly extinguished. 

A fire truck will remain at the building overnight to ensure none of the paper products light up again, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service said.

The cause has not yet been identified. An arson unit is investigating.

Crews were dispatched to the east end of Point Douglas Avenue after the call came in around 7:20 p.m.

The area was filled with thick, dark smoke as 18 units responded to the scene.
