Monty Turner to be returned to the U.S. to face multiple charges

A Colorado man accused of kidnapping his three-year-old son, assaulting the child’s mother and fleeing to Canada will be deported to the United States to face multiple charges.

Monty Turner, 51, faces multiple charges in the U.S., including kidnapping.

Turner was arrested on May 26 in Brandon, Man. at the Casa Blanca Motel. His son, Luke, was found with him at the hotel.

Luke had gone missing a day prior in Longmont, Colo., about 1,500 kilometres from Brandon.

The child was later reunited with his mother, and Turner has been held in custody in Canada since the incident.

On Friday, Turner's lawyer told Canada's Immigration and Refugee Board at an admissibility hearing the man wanted to return to the U.S. as soon as possible.

The board ruled Turner would be deported but no specific date for when he would leave Canada was determined.
