Truck driver dies after dropping through washed out road

A grain truck driver has died after his vehicle drove into a washed out section of road just south of Highway 5 near the Rural Municipality of Hillsburg Saturday afternoon.

A grain truck driver has died after his vehicle drove into a washed out section of road just south of Highway 5 near the Rural Municipality of Hillsburg Saturday afternoon.

According to police the 46-year-old man was driving from the RM of Gilbert Plains southbound on Road 150 when his vehicle fell into the washed out area and dropped about four to six meters.

Emergency crews were called to the area at about 2 p.m., and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police said initial reports indicate there were warning signs on the road approaching the area, but they have been moved or displaced.

The man's name will not be released.

No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The RM of Hillsburg is located about 235 kilometres northwest of Brandon.
