Shilo soldier found dead after he went missing last week

The body of Sgt. Jesse Tait, 34, of Canadian Forces Base Shilo has been found in a river near Thunder Bay, Ont., after he went missing from Brandon, Man., on Jan. 20.

A Brandon soldier has been found dead after he was reported missing on Jan. 20.

Provincial police in Thunder Bay, Ont., have recovered a body believed to be Sgt. Jesse Tait, 34, of Canadian Forces Base Shilo.

His body was recovered from the Kaministiquia River near Thunder Bay last Thursday. His car was found near the water along Silver Falls Road.

Police say they believe Tait may have entered the river. Foul play is not suspected.

​CFB Shilo released a statement on behalf of Tait's family Tuesday morning saying, "Jesse was a wonderful father, husband, son, and soldier. He was a proud Patricia and loved what he did. Our families are grieving and we ask you to respect our privacy at this time."

No other details about his death have been released.

Tait was born and raised in Sudbury, Ont. According to his obituary, he leaves behind a wife and two sons.
