Sex offender Christopher Murdock at large
Police in Manitoba are warning people to be on the lookout for Christopher Edwin Murdock, a sex offender who is currently at large.
Murdock failed to report to his parole officer on Aug. 15 and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest for being unlawfully at large, according to the Manitoba Integrated High-Risk Sex Offender Unit, which consists of RCMP and Winnipeg Police Service officers.
The 49-year-old has an extensive criminal record that includes numerous sexual assault convictions and weapons-related offences. He also has a long history of alcohol and substance abuse, according to police.
Murdock was designated as a long-term offender in September 2002.
Police say he was recently seen in the Winnipeg area, but it's believed he may be in the Fisher Branch or Fisher River area in northern Manitoba.
Murdock has been at large at least twice before, in 2010 and in 2012. He was re-arrested both times, shortly after RCMP issued public advisories about his disappearance.
He is described as six feet tall, weighing 153 pounds with black and grey hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information about Murdock's whereabouts is urged not to approach him, but to call the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit at (204) 984-1888 or their local police service.
Those with tips can also call Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-8477 or 1-800-222-8477 (toll-free).
