RCMP have made an arrest after a police chase that started in North Dakota ended in Manitoba.

On Saturday, officers in the U.S. were involved in a car chase with a stolen Chevrolet Lumina. The car sped through the Canadian border at the Lena Port of Entry around noon and officers were forced to stop chasing it.

By 3 p.m., officers in the Blue Hills area discovered a pick-up truck had been stolen from a nearby area and a car with U.S. plates had been left behind.

About 30 minutes later, RCMP spotted the truck driving east on the Trans-Canada Highway. The driver managed to make a getaway down a gravel road and ditching the truck to run on foot.

On Tuesday, Headingley RCMP got a call that a strange man was in the area. Officers deployed their canine unit and managed to track the man down.

A 29-year-old man from Fargo, N.D., is now in police custody.
