About 100 new Canadians were officially sworn in at a special citizenship ceremony at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg.

One hundred new Canadians are being treated to a CFL game at Investors Group Field later this week, after they had their swearing-in ceremony at Winnipeg's football stadium.

The stadium hosted its first citizenship ceremony on Monday afternoon, with Winnipeg Blue Bombers president and CEO Wade Miller welcoming families at the Pinnacle Club.

The new Canadians received tickets to the Bombers' home opener against the Hamilton Ti-Cats on Thursday, when they will be honoured in a special half-time presentation.

The presentation at centre field will include congratulatory messages from Miller, provincial Multiculturalism Minister Flor Marcelino, Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman and new CFL commissioner Jeffrey Orridge.

The game will be some of the new citizens' first exposure to Canadian football, according to the Bombers.
