Murder charges laid in Interlake death

First-degree murder charges have been laid against three Winnipeg men in the beating death of a former wrestler in the Interlake last fall.

First-degree murder charges have been laid against three Winnipeg men in the beating death of a former wrestler in the Interlake region last fall.

Ivan (John) Radocaj, 43, was found dead in his home in the Rural Municipality of Armstrong, about 110 kilometres north of Winnipeg, on Sept. 14.

RCMP spokeswoman Sgt. Line Karpish said the charges indicate investigators believe the death was planned and deliberate.

"The evidence we've gathered throughout this extensive investigation supports the charge of first-degree murder, and these people will be facing the court," she said.

The three accused men, aged 20, 23 and 31, are relatives, Karpish said, but she would not reveal how they are related.

Radocaj was a professional wrestler in the 1980s. He had several stage names including Ivan the Giant, Big John, and the Croatian Giant.
