She is a founding member of Indigenous Circle of Empowerment, member of Migizii Agamik and with the University of Manitoba's Aboriginal Students Association, she is a strong Métis leader, engendering change through passion, positive attitude, and service.

She juggles a busy family life, her studies, Food Matters programming, Frontier College nutrition literacy, and University of Manitoba indigenous content tutoring. With many publications and awards, Monica is an amazing woman.

Her curiosity about the wellbeing of the community drives her to deepen her learning from teachers in Winnipeg's indigenous community as well as at the university.
