Man cut by machete and beaten
A man is recovering in hospital after being beaten by a group of people and cut by a machete in Winnipeg, police said.
Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, which happened just before 10 p.m. in the city's North End neighbourhood.
According to police, the man was approached by a number of other men outside the Stock Exchange Hotel at Arlington Street and Logan Avenue.
The suspects tried to rob the victim and steal his car. They then assaulted him and hit him with a machete, causing several lacerations, police said.
The suspects fled the scene but police arrested two men just before 2 a.m. at a house on nearby Beacon Street.
