The man was located in the 200 block of Reitta Street, about a block from the school, around 9 a.m.

A spokeswoman for the Winnipeg School Division said the school, in the West Alexander area, was put into hold-and-secure mode — wherein classes continue but no one is allowed to enter or leave the school — at the request of police.

There was "third-hand" reports that a man might have been shot, the spokeswoman said.

The hold-and-secure was lifted at 11 a.m.

Police would not talk about the nature of the man's injuries. Officers have been going door-to-door interviewing residents in the area.
