Another man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing in Winnipeg's inner city on Thursday.

Joshua Evans, 24, was charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm, kidnapping, assault with a weapon, and sexual assault.

On Friday, Martin Archie Flett, 22, was charged with second-degree murder in connection to the stabbing.

Police are also releasing more details about what happened before James Edsel Tucker, 45, was found stabbed in the Furby Street apartment just north of Ellice Avenue.

The two suspects allegedly went to the apartment to buy drugs when they encountered a 37-year-old man who lived in the building, police said.

The suspects were armed and seriously assaulted the resident, police alleged.

Police said their investigation shows that sometime later, the two men forced the victim into his suite and that's where they encountered Tucker. There was a confrontation and Tucker was stabbed, police said. Tucker was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and Flett and Evans have been remanded into custody.
