Fire outside Winnipeg garage destroys car, melts sign
Blaze started in car parked just outside Nepon Autobody
Winnipeg fire crews rushed to the scene of a car fire outside an autobody garage in the city's North End Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to Nepon Autobody on Dufferin Avenue and Salter Street around 7:30 a.m.
Mymko said firefighters gained entry to the garage, which was closed at the time, and found no damage inside.
"So the damage is the car and then you can see the sign, the sign has melted," he said.
Mymko added that there are many risks involved with a car fire so close to a building.
"There's flammable liquids inside the car, there could be anything in the trunk, so there's lots of unknowns so we take full precautions," he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
