Fire forces 25 from Winnipeg apartment

A fire at a Winnipeg apartment chased 25 people out of the building on Monday morning.

A fire at a Winnipeg apartment chased 25 people out of the building on Monday morning.

The fire broke out at about 3 a.m. in the building at 620 William Avenue.

The fire was quickly extinguished but the residents remain out of the building and it isn't known when they will be allowed to get back inside their suites.

For now, they are in the care of social services or other family members, according to fire officials.

Total damage is estimated at $80,000.

The cause is under investigation.
