The son of Manitoba Conservation Minister Gord Mackintosh has been charged in connection with an April robbery in north Winnipeg.

Police said Gordon Elijah Muller Mackintosh, 22, turned himself in to police on Thursday following a robbery at a business in the 2200 block of McPhillips Street last April 20. An investigation revealed that at approximately 1:00 p.m. on April 20 a lone male entered the business, demanded and received cash, and then fled.

A government spokesman confirmed that the accused is the son of Conservation Minister Gord Mackintosh. "This incident has been painfully bewildering for the Mackintosh family," a spokesman said. "There were health and medication issues here that professionals are now dealing with."

Mackintosh has been charged with robbery with a weapon and wearing a disguise.

The government spokesman said a statement will be made by the family's lawyer in the coming days.
