Butt scoops Mandel's spot at Winnipeg Comedy Festival

Schedule conflicts prompt Howie Mandel to withdraw from the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, but Brent Butt steps in to save the day.

Canadian comic Brent Butt stepped in Thursday to replace Howie Mandel at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival after the former Deal or No Deal star stepped aside at  the last minute due to scheduling conflicts.

Mandel was slated to headline the festival’s Friday night evening gala. It would have been Mandel’s first-ever appearance at the festival.

Mandel was forced to cancel after his new series was picked up by a network and conflicts with his current shooting schedule for America’s Got Talent.

Late Thursday, festival organizers announced Brent Butt has agreed to fill one of the festival's major timeslots.

Butt is best known for his work on the TV show Corner Gas.
