Bars, restaurants hope Grey Cup parties will bring in extra revenue
Some bar and restaurant owners in Winnipeg say they hope Grey Cup parties on Sunday can help make up for some of the revenue they've lost from the NHL lockout.
JC Siwicki, a local restaurant owner, said he hired new employees and spent thousands of dollars on a bus to shuttle fans to and from Winnipeg Jets games.
"That was definitely a big hit and then we get all this extra staff so we're just trying to keep them around," said Siwicki. "Hopefully the Jets come back because you just never know."
He also said that even though the Winnipeg Bombers aren't in the Grey Cup this year, he is thrilled he is able to bring in extra staff for Sunday.
The kickoff for the game is at five o'clock.
