Three members of a family were hospitalized after returning to Winnipeg from Mexico on Monday.

Paramedics in Winnipeg were called to the airport to meet up with the family's WestJet flight.

A spokesperson for the Winnipeg Airports Authority said the call came in at about 4:30 p.m. suggesting three people on a flight from Cancun were sick.

WestJet spokesperson Robert Palmer said the three people were vomiting and had diarrhea. Health Canada first had to be contacted to clear the family to re-enter the country.

Paramedics transported the people to hospital.

The flight was not quarantined.

Palmer said it's not unusual for people to come back from a foreign country feeling ill.
