Man charged in '70 murders suspect in '91 murders

The ex-policeman charged with first degree murder for the sex slayings of two women 30 years ago is a suspect in a double murder in 1991.

Ronald West, 52, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder Wednesday. He is serving time in Joyceville penitentiary for robbery.

The two murders in 1991 happened at a picnic area near Blind River in northern Ontario. A man confronted a couple in a motorhome, saying he was a police officer.

The man then shot the woman, Jackie McAllister, killing her. Her husband, Gord, was also shot, but survived. Brian Major, 29, came upon the scene and was shot dead.

At the time, West lived in the Blind River area.
