Watch the Raptors at London's own Jurassic Park!
Big screens will be setup on the pedestrian section of Dundas for the public viewing party
London fans will get a chance to watch the Toronto Raptors on big screens at an official viewing party known as Jurassic Park.
The City of London announced Saturday evening it had approval from Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) to broadcast game 2 and the others to follow.
Dundas Place, the newly opened pedestrian section of Dundas Street, between Ridout Street and Talbot Street, will be closed and big screens setup.
The game against the Golden State Warriors, where the Raptors will attempt to take a 2-0 lead in the NBA final, starts at 8 p.m.
London now joins a growing list of Canadian cities to host Jurassic Parks for fans, with the original located outside Scotiabank Arena in Toronto . Communities approved by MLSE include:
- Celebration Square, Mississauga, Ont..
- Garden Square, Brampton, Ont.
- Civic Square, Burlington, Ont.
- Springer Market Square, Kingston, Ont.
- Rogers Square, Halifax
Cineplex — not just for movies anymore
On Wednesday, Cineplex and MLSE announced they had teamed up to host viewing parties in 33 cinemas across the country.
At first London was left off the list, but after a backlash on social media, the movie theatre chain made tickets available at its Westmount location.
Tickets were free, but limited to two per person. In other cities, they were scooped up in a matter of hours.
