Victim of alleged human trafficking ring called 'courageous'
'The victim in this case put all her cards on the table and just hoped someone would understand'
Provincial police are commending the actions of a young woman from the London area after she reported being the victim of human trafficking. It led to the arrest of two men who have since been charged.
Officers from Middlesex OPP and London police began their investigation at the end of August when the victim and her family came forward to say she was being physically and sexually assaulted by two men, both known to her.
"The hero in this story is the young woman who gathered the courage and reached out for help," said OPP Const. Max Gomez.
Two 23-year-old men are now facing several charges, including human trafficking and distributing intimate images without consent.
One of the men is also facing assault and weapons charges.
"We know that this is extremely difficult for victims to do. The victim in this case put all her cards on the table and just hoped someone would understand," said Gomez.
Police said the execution of a search warrant resulted in the arrest of a third London man on drug charges.
The identity of the three accused is not being made public to protect the victim.
