VIA Rail Canada has cancelled all trains between London and Windsor for the next 24 hours.

The company said in a statement on Saturday that it was forced to cancel service due to an accident involving a truck that struck a bridge on the CN line between Chatham and London.

"We were advised about the accident early this morning about 6:30," Mylène Bélanger, VIA Rail Canada's Media Relations Officer told CBC.

"All other trains on this route will operate between Toronto and London only," VIA Rail said in a statement, adding "there will be no service or alternate transportation provided beyond London."

VIA Rail said approximately 600 passengers have been affected and these passengers will be offered a full refund for the untraveled portion of their tickets without service charges.

The company said passengers can also choose to travel on another date and exchange fees will be waived.
