Three people are dead and another person is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash in the Municipality of Huron East, west of Listowel.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Brussels Line, between Cardiff Road and Browntown Road, at around 7:45 a.m. Monday.

Provincial police say the male driver and two male passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth man was taken to a local hospital.

That passenger was later airlifted to London with life-threatening injuries.

"The initial report said the vehicle was southbound on Brussels Line and entered the east ditch and then collided with a tree," Const. Barry Cookson said.

"We will have to continue the investigation with the assistance of the technical collision investigators to determine what actually took place today."

The identities of the victims have not yet been released, but Cookson said the four men worked together.

Brussels Line is closed between Cardiff Road and Browntown Road as crews work to clean a small oil spill and remove the vehicle from the ditch.
