A Wilfrid Laurier University employee who was placed on leave last month after allegedly posting Islamophobic messages online no longer works at the university, a spokesperson confirmed Friday.

"As this is a personnel matter, no further information will be provided," spokesperson Graham Mitchell said in an email to CBC News.

The staffer was placed on leave pending an investigation last month. Mitchell did not elaborate on the outcome of that investigation.

In a statement last month, the university said the alleged posts did not represent its perspectives or values.
