Police are investigating a sudden death after a man was found unresponsive on a snowmobile trail in the Municipality of West Perth Saturday afternoon.

The emergency call came in at around 5:00 p.m., from an area in the northwest of the township near the town of Brodhagen, north of Mitchell.

"It was on a snowmobile trail located between Line 42 and Line 44," Provincial Cst. Michael Melnychuk told CBC, adding that snowmobilers in the area stopped to help transport the paramedics and firefighters to the scene.

"On arrive, police and paramedics located an unresponsive 53-year-old male. The male party was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending coroner."

Melnychuk said the death is not being considered suspicious and foul play is not suspected; however, he was not able to say how the man died.

A post-mortem examination was scheduled for Monday.
