A report of shots fired in Kitchener Thursday morning has been determined to be false and there is no concern for public safety, the Waterloo Regional Police Services says.

A report of shots fired in Kitchener Thursday morning has been determined to be false and there is no concern for public safety, the Waterloo Regional Police Service says.

Earlier, police had advised motorists and pedestrians to avoid Franklin Street N., between Trafalgar Avenue and Shuh Avenue. 

Officers had responded to reports of gunfire within a residence.

There was a large police presence on the scene for the investigation.
