A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at the Waterloo Regional Police Service North Division platoon.

This comes after three members from the division tested positive. All three members were part of the same shift, according to a police news release.

A total of 12 regional police members have tested positive for COVID-19 since March of last year. That number includes both officers and civilian members.

As of Thursday, police said 34 members of the service were off duty for "COVID-19 related reasons."

Regional police say they are working with public health to trace all contacts.
