Manager accused of stealing $50K from Fergus-area golf course

An Elora man has been charged with theft and falsification of books after the owners of Wildwinds Golf Links near Fergus reported an employee had been stealing money over a two-year period.

An Elora man has been charged after more than $50,000 went missing from Wildwinds Golf Links, south of Fergus.

Wellington OPP said they received a report on Oct. 30, 2017 of a theft at the golf course.

The owners the golf course told police the general manager had been stealing money from the business over a two year period and had been adjusting the financial records, police said.

The OPP's major crime unit did a forensic audit as part of the investigation.

An Elora man has now been charged of two counts of theft over $5,000 and two counts of falsification of books for a fraudulent intent.
