This year's International Plowing Match has been postponed due to COVID-19.

The match has been pushed to October, according to the Ontario Plowmen's Association.

The association, based in Guelph, said the match will now start Oct. 13, 2021 and run until Oct. 16, 2021.

It'll be held at the Lindsay Fairgrounds and neighbouring farms in Lindsay, Ont.

The event typically draws tens of thousands of people.

The association released a statement saying the decision to postpone the event was based on the health and safety of the people who staff and attend the match.

The match has been running since 1913, and this only the third time since then that the event has had to be postponed or cancelled. The first was in 1918, when the Spanish flu epidemic hit.
