Ikea Canada is among the store's global outlets to recall the Mysingso beach chair. According to the furniture seller, the chair can pose a fall or finger entrapment hazard if incorrectly reassembled after cleaning.

The Swedish furniture retailer received reports that the chair can collapse and cause injury, such as by pinching fingers if it is incorrectly reassembled after removing and washing the fabric seat.

"Customers should return their MYSINGSÖ beach chair at the Returns & Exchange department at their local Ikea store or call Ikea Customer Service toll-free, 1-800-661-9807 for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required by Ikea for this recall," Ikea said in a release.

Ikea said Tuesday it had received five reports from Finland, Germany, the United States, Denmark and Australia in which users sustained injuries.

Ikea Canada says the chair has been redesigned and a new version will be available in stores by February, 2017.

Ikea has more than 300 stores in 27 countries. Its parent company is headquartered in Leiden, the Netherlands. The Canadian head office is in Burlington, Ont.
