How you can have your say in the 2019 municipal budgets

Everything you need to know about the ongoing budget process for Waterloo region and its municipalities.

As budget considerations continue across Waterloo region, here's how people can learn more about their local budgets, and how they can provide feedback.

Waterloo region

Information about the Region of Waterloo's budget process can be found here, while a summary of the preliminary budget can be found here.

Residents can share feedback and ideas either:

  • by attending a public meeting scheduled for Jan. 16 and Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
  • through a feedback forum launching on Jan. 9 through Engage Region of Waterloo

The region's final 2019 budget is scheduled to be reviewed by council on Feb. 19. 

Kitchener

Information about Kitchener's budget process can be found here and a summary of the budget's priorities and investments can be found here.

Residents can share their feedback and ideas either:

  • at a public input session on Jan. 21.
  • by taking a 5-minute survey here.

Kitchener's final 2019 budget is scheduled be approved by council on Jan. 31. 

Waterloo

Information about Waterloo's budget process can be found here and a summary of the budget can be found here.

Residents can share their feedback on the budget process here.

Waterloo's final 2019 budget is scheduled to be approved by council on Feb 11. 

Cambridge

Information about Cambridge's budget process can be found here and a summary of the city's multi-year 2018-2020 budget can be found here.

Residents can share their feedback and ideas by attending at one of the city's 'Budget Road Shows' listed below:

North Dumfries

Information about North Dumfries' budget process can be found here and a summary of the draft budget can be found here.

Community members can direct any questions pertaining to the draft 2019 budget to the treasurer/director of corporate services at 519-632-8800 ext. 123. 

Wellesley 

Information about Wellesley budget process can be found here and a summary of the draft budget can be found here.

Residents can share their feedback and ideas by attending a public consultation meeting at the Township of Wellesley Council Chambers, 4805 William Hastings Line, Crosshill on Jan. 7 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. 

If required, additional consultation meetings will be held on January 9 and 11.

Budget information for Woolwich and Wilmot townships have not yet been posted online.
