Police in Guelph are searching for a person who entered a home in Guelph's east end and pooped in the dishwasher.

Sometime between 1 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, someone entered a home near Starwood Drive and Eastview Road through an unlocked back sliding glass door. The people who live in the home were asleep at the time.

"Nothing was taken, however the culprit defecated on the open dishwasher door before leaving the residence," police said in a release on Monday.

Police asked anyone with information on the case to contact Const. John Hunt at 519-824-1212 ext. 7359 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Police also reminded people to "properly secure your residence by always locking all your doors and windows."
