Fire destroys auto garage in Fergus

Fire crews were called to an auto garage northeast of Fergus just before midnight Wednesday.

Firefighters battled the blaze in temperatures that dipped to -17 C with the windchill

An overnight fire has destroyed an auto garage near Fergus.

Fire crews were called to the garage on Third Line northeast of Fergus at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Smoke and flames were visible as firefighters arrived.

Centre Wellington Fire Chief Brad Patton tweeted firefighters fought the large blaze for eight hours in cold conditions. The temperatures dropped to -10 C overnight, but felt closer to -17 C with the windchill.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
