A cyclist has been charged with careless driving after a collision with an LRT train earlier this month.

The 62-year-old man from Kitchener was riding his bike on Ottawa Street S. near Charles Street E. when he turned in front of the train, according to the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

Officers were called to the scene just after noon on Nov. 8.

The man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Ottawa Street was closed for more than two hours while investigators were on scene.

Police continue to remind people to be mindful around LRT trains and follow all signs.

There have been multiple collisions between vehicles and LRT trains since the service launched June 21.
