Alistair Wood appears in Guelph court for alleged murder of wife
Wood accused of first-degree murder in the killing of his wife Kathleen
An 83-year-old Guelph man made his first court appearance Wednesday in the killing of his 84-year-old wife.
Alistair Wood is accused of first-degree murder in connection with the killing his wife Kathleen.
Media reports say Wood entered the courtroom slowly as family members wept in the gallery. The reports also said Wood appeared to have difficulty hearing the Justice of the Peace during his brief proceeding.
The body of 84-year-old Kathleen Wood was discovered late Tuesday morning at the Village by the Arboretum, off Guelph's Stone Road East.
The Village by the Arboretum website describes itself as "an active adult community in Guelph...made up of 497 single-family homes and town homes."
Wood is remanded in custody until his next court appearance on December 1.
