BC's Auditor General for Local Government was fired yesterday.  In two years, the AGLG produced only two reports, at a cost of $5 million.  There were complaints about inefficiencies and poor management within Basia Ruta's office.

But when the government tried to appoint an auditor to audit her, she pushed back.  Now, she's gone.

Yesterday in the Legislature the opposition pressed for an explanation

And so, at the moment at least, there is no longer an auditor general for local government.

Joining us to shed some light on what the future might hold is Marg Spina. She's a Kamloops City Councillor, and president of SILGA, the Southern Interior Local Government Association.
