Hockey series creates divided loyalties
The Toronto Maple Leafs are preparing for Game 4 in their playoff battle with the Buffalo Sabres. But the series is creating divided loyalties among some Canadians.
It's the first time the two teams, separated by an international border and 120 km, have met to fight for the right to advance to the Stanley Cup final.
Leaf fans routinely invade Buffalo to support their team. But throughout the Niagara Peninsula, between Buffalo and Toronto, Leaf fans definitely have some company. Many have decided to side with Buffalo instead.
The rivalry is getting intense. Yet for many hockey fans on the Canadian side of the border, this is a "can't lose" series. Whichever team wins the series, a local team will advance to the Stanley Cup.
