Wanted man arrested, found carrying drugs and weapons: police

After noticing a wanted man riding his bicycle on Wednesday, Hamilton police arrested him and found he was carrying drugs, brass knuckles and a knife.

After noticing a wanted man riding his bicycle on Wednesday, Hamilton police arrested him and say they found he was carrying drugs, brass knuckles and a knife.

Just before 2 p.m., an officer recognized the 26-year-old cycling on Victoria Avenue, near Barton Street.

The man had been wanted by police since November 2017 for two counts of failing to comply with probation and one charge of obstruction of police.

Police arrested and searched the man, finding brass knuckles and a prohibited knife. They also found 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and 0.3 grams of fentanyl, which was dyed purple.

He was charged with two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The man is set to appear in Hamilton court on Thursday to answer to the warrant and other charges.
