Driver escapes after truck hauling lumber catches fire near Caledonia: OPP
The Ministry of Transportation was called in to assess damage to the Highway 6 bypass
The driver of a tractor trailer that caught fire near Caledonia Thursday. OPP say, managed to escape injury by hopping out of the cab before the flames spread.
Emergency services were called to the Highway 6 bypass between Greens Road and Argyle Street South around 5:15 p.m. and found the vehicle that was hauling lumber heavily damaged by fire.
Haldimand County Fire Services put out the flames and determined the fire is not suspicious, according to provincial police.
As a precaution, the truck driver was taken to hospital to be assessed.
No other vehicles were involved in the fire.
