Police have arrested one suspect and say they've identified another following a spree of more than a dozen vehicle break-ins at a Stoney Creek apartment building.

Two men broke into the building on Village Green Boulevard between 10 and 10:50 p.m. on August 5, entered 17 vehicles and stole items from 11 of them, according to Const. Jerome Stewart.

Surveillance cameras in the lobby captured images of the two men, and police say that video may have helped identify the suspects.

One of the wanted men got involved in an altercation at the Centre on Barton around 8 p.m. Sunday, police say, and was arrested.

A 40-year-old man is charged with break and enter, 17 counts of mischief under $5,000 and 11 counts of theft under $5,000.

The second suspect, a 24-year-old man, has also been identified and investigators say he's currently in custody. He faces the same charges.

Police say the investigation into the car thefts is still open and more charges could be laid.
