Hamilton police investigate after truck causes building damage

Hamilton police are investigating after a truck struck a building in the city on Friday.

No one was injured in the collision

Hamilton police are investigating after a truck struck a building in the city on Friday. 

Police say that a 58-year-old truck driver was travelling eastbound on Main Street E. when he struck a traffic control pole and damaged a building at Main Street and James Street S.

No one was injured in the collision, but the driver was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Main Street was closed for hours as emergency crews cleaned up the scene. 

The Hamilton Fire Department and the hazardous material team were also on scene to clean up a fuel spill.

The building was determined to be safe by city building inspectors.

Police say they are investigating the cause of the crash but have so far ruled out alcohol as a factor.
