Tom Hanks and Martin Short turn Bulldogs cheerleaders

The Hamilton Bulldogs enlisted some huge stars to cheer the team on before its home opener this month.

Two stars cheer on newly minted OHL team in new video

As far as cheerleaders go, it's hard to top two iconic actors with Oscar, Emmy and Tony Awards between them.

"Go Bulldogs!" Short exclaims in this clip the hockey team posted Tuesday. "I love the Bulldogs."

Hanks, not to be undone, does his best impression of a referee in the video while matching Short's intensity.

After years as an AHL franchise affiliated to the Montreal Canadiens, the Bulldogs start this season playing in the Ontario Hockey League at FirstOntario Centre.

The team's home opener takes place on Sept. 26 against the Oshawa Generals.
