Hamilton Bulldogs lose to Rochester and lose Leblanc
Tuesday night, the Hamilton Bulldogs lost to the Rochester Americans. Wednesday, they discovered they have lost star forward Louis Leblanc for four to six weeks.
Leblanc was injured on Saturday night during a 5-0 loss to the Toronto Marlies. He has a high ankle sprain. The injury happened in the second period during contact with Toronto's Jessie Blacker. Leblanc has two goals in three games for the Bulldogs. He spent most of last season with the Montreal Canadiens.
Tuesday night, Cody Hodgson had a goal and an assist to lead the Americans over the Bulldogs 3-1 in American Hockey League play. T. J. Brennan and Joe Finley also scored for Rochester. David Leggio made 36 saves.
Michael Bournival was the lone scorer for Hamilton. The Bulldogs have now won two and lost oftheir first four games. Peter Delmas stopped 29 shots.
Hodgson's goal 12:53 into the second period was the eventual winner. Brennan's goal came on the power play. The Americans scored on one of their four powerplay chances. The Bulldogs could not score on their two power plays.
