A Hamilton man has been charged with mischief after police say they spotted someone spray painting Nazi symbols on a dumpster.

Police say they went to 3 Emerald St. N. just before 4 p.m. When they got there, they saw swastikas, SS lightning bolt symbols and other "hate/bias-related speech sprayed with black paint" on the outside of the dumpster.

Hamilton police say they checked the area and found a man hiding behind the dumpster with "evidence placing him at the scene."

A 33-year-old man is charged with mischief under $5,000.
