Man in critical condition after industrial accident at Nova Steel
Hamilton EMS say he suffered 'crush-type injuries'
A worker has been sent to hospital in critical condition following an industrial accident involving a metal coil at Nova Steel Friday morning.
Paramedics were called to 830 Service Road in Stoney Creek just before 8 a.m. and found a man in his 40s suffering "crush-type injuries" to his lower body that had caused "multi-system trauma," according to Hamilton EMS superintendent Dave Thompson.
"He was transported to a local trauma centre in critical condition, but he was speaking with paramedics throughout transport," Thompson added.
In a tweet Hamilton Police said the man was conscious and breathing when he was taken to hospital.
The Ministry of Labour has been contacted to investigate.
