Highway 8 in Dundas is closed after part of the escarpment access road collapsed following heavy rain.

The highway is closed in both directions between Bond Street in Dundas and Hillcrest Avenue above the escarpment in Greensville due to a "significant erosion event."

Crews are investigating the damage and repairs are required, according to the city. The highway will remain closed until further notice.

"The City thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation as we work to ensure continued public safety along the escarpment roadways," states a media release.
