Missing Hamilton man found dead

Hamilton police have recovered the body of Neil Croft, who went missing last week.

Police have recovered the body of missing Hamilton man Neil Croft.

Croft's body was found Monday morning during a ground search of an area of the Niagara Escarpment just north of St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton's West 5th location.

No foul play is suspected in connection with Croft's death, police say.

Croft, 53, was first reported missing by his family on Aug. 23. Police issued two public pleas for information on his whereabouts, saying they were concerned for his safety.

The family is grateful for people's efforts, police said in a statement on Monday.

"The family of Mr. Neil Croft has been in conversation with police throughout this investigation and wanted to pass on their thanks to the media and the public for their assistance in trying to locate Neil."
