Garbage bin, mattresses lit on fire in arson spree
Police looking for video of east Hamilton area where the fires occurred
Hamilton police are treating a series of outdoor fires on Wednesday morning as cases of arson, adding the incidents are likely connected.
Between 4:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Wednesday, crews responded to four small fires in an area of east Hamilton bounded by Sherman Avenue North to the west, Lottridge Street to the east, Main East to the south and Barton East to the north.
According to police, items ranging from a wooden garbage bin to discarded mattresses were lit on fire.
Firefighters successfully extinguished each fire, and no one was injured.
Hamilton police ask anyone with video of the area to contact Division Two detectives at 905-546-2907.
The Hamilton police’s arson unit is also investigating.
