Hamilton man was driving more than double speed limit in his Mustang Cobra: police
The Mustang was going 142 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone
A Hamilton man is facing charges after police say they clocked him going more than double the speed limit in a Ford Mustang Cobra.
On Saturday, Oct. 5 around noon, Hamilton police say they were conducting speed enforcement on Nikola Tesla Boulevard near Ottawa Street when a Ford Mustang Cobra was seen driving faster than the posted speed limit.
Police found the Mustang was travelling 142 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone. Officers stopped the driver, a 63-year-old Hamilton man, and charged him with stunt driving and speeding.
He is scheduled to appear in court in November.
In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, police suspended the man's licence for seven days and impounded his vehicle for the same amount of time.
If found guilty, the man could face a fine between $2,000 and $10,000, up to six months in jail and a two-year licence suspension.
Police are asking anyone with information that could assist the investigation to call them.
