Hamilton police are investigating after an SUV crashed into a light pole near Gage Park and injured three people inside.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. A 38-year-old Hamilton man in an SUV hit a snow bank on King Street East and Balmoral Avenue South, police say. There were three people inside — the driver, a 35-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, all from Hamilton.

All the occupants had life threatening injuries at first, but they've been upgraded to stable, police say. The male passenger has a broken leg.

Police have charged the driver with impaired driving causing bodily harm.
